Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
